Habitual offender arrested for drug business; found using police, press stickers in Imphal East
The arrested person has been identified as one Md Sher Khan alias Ajam Khan, 32, son of late Md Indan of Khergao Yumkhaibam Makha Leikai.
The Imphal East police on Monday arrested a habitual offender involved in carrying out illegal drug business by using ‘POLICE’ and ‘PRESS’ stickers.
The arrested person has been identified as one Md Sher Khan alias Ajam Khan, 32, son of late Md Indan of Khergao Yumkhaibam Makha Leikai in Imphal East.
Heroin powder weighing around 26 grams, 47 Spas Primevon capsules, one sticker written as ‘POLICE’ and one set of four stickers written as ‘PRESS’, one Nokia keypad phone, one Mi smartphone, SIM cards, three different keys (one for Tata 407, one for Royal Enfield and one for Honda Dio), one i20 car yellow in colour with a sticker written as ‘PRESS’ pasted on the wind shield and bearing registration number HR26DK-1014 and identity cards among others were seized from his possession.
Speaking to the media at Imphal East SP conference hall on Tuesday, SP Haobijam Jogeshchandra said that two teams of Narcotic Cell Imphal East led by its OC inspector Kh Devkumar under the supervision of the SP and Lamlai SDPO Ksh Ravikumar assisted by members of Yumkhaiba Athletic Development Association (YADA) arrested Sher Khan from Kongba Standard College crossing area.
The narcotic and other items were seized from the possession of Sher Khan in the presence of witnesses around 6:30 pm and he disclosed that he bought one Tata 407 and Royal Enfield from the sale profit of drugs, the SP said.
Jogeshchandra further said that the house of Md Safikur, 29, son of late Md Muhibur Rahaman of Kshetri Yangbi Leikai was also searched on Monday around 11:10 pm after disclosure by Sher Khan that Safikur helped him in his illegal drug activities.
During the raid, the above mentioned Tata 407 Dipper bearing no registration number, one Redmi phone along with SIM cards and one white polythene carry bag containing 110 small plastic vials containing suspected heroin powder weighing 22 grams and nine empty plastic vials were seized, he informed.
The SP maintained that Md Sher Khan alias Ajam Khan is a repeat offender and the main accused in several other previous cases.
“Sher Khan has been arrested before in FIR No. 263(9) 2019 PRT PS u/s 21(b) ND&PS Act for possession of Heroin powder. He is also wanted in FIR No. 211(11)2020 PRT PS u/s 448/427/506/34 IPC for House trespass, criminal intimidation and threat; FIR No. 212(11)2020 PRT PS u/s 147/148/149/326/427/353 IPC for rioting with deadly weapons, causing grievous hurt and assaulting a government official/public servant from discharging his duty during conduct of a raid, in which, many private vehicles of police were destroyed; FIR No. 2(1)2021 PRT PS u/s 427 IPC & 25(1-C) Arms Act for stopping a person on the road and destroying his vehicle by using a small arm,” Jogeshchandra said.
He added that a case has been taken up against Md Sher Khan and Md Safikur under FIR No. 11(2)2021 IBG PS u/s 21(a)(b)/29/60(3) NDPS Act for necessary legal action.
