House condoles demise of former governor, four MLAs

The observation was moved by speaker Y Khemchand as an obituary reference

Manipur Legislative Assembly on Thursday observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls of a former governor and other four MLAs on the second day of the 12th session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The observation was moved by speaker Y Khemchand as an obituary reference. The mark of respect was paid to the departed souls of former governor of Manipur Ashwani Kumar and four former members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly namely Laishram Nandakumar Singh of 10-Uripok assembly constituency; Salam Jayentakumar Singh of Thanga assembly constituency; Heshamuddin MD of 27-Moirang assembly constituency and Laishom Ibomcha 12-Keishamthong assembly constituency,.

Leader of the House, Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former governor of Manipur Ashwani Kumar. He said Ashwani worked for the welfare of both hills and valleys.

CM Biren also expressed his condolence for four members of Manipur Legislative Assembly who had passed away.

Biren said the demise of the four members will not only be a loss for the people of their respective assembly constituencies but also for the entire state.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar; opposition leader of the House Okram Ibobi and other members of the House including Th Lokeswor, L Jayentakumar, P Saratchandra, T Robindro Singh, Kh Joykishan Singh and K Govindas took part in the obituary reference.
