RPF/PLA cadre arrested

The arrested person underwent 60-day basic training at Rijik Camp, Myanmar and is presently holding a rank of self-styled Corporal, police said.

A team of Thoubal Commando arrested a cadre of outlawed organisation RPF/PLA at 8:45 am from Salungpham Maning Leikai near Ngatensoi Bridge on Wednesday.

The police received reliable information of the presence of some active members of outlawed organisation RPF/PLA in and around Salungpham area, Thoubal District around 7:45 am, as per a release from the police.

Acting on the information, the team of Thoubal commando under the supervision of SP Thoubal S Ibomcha immediately rushed to Salungpham Maning Leikai area and conducted random frisking and checking of suspected persons, it stated.

During the operation, one youth was seen walking from Salungpham towards Kairembikok near Ngatensoi Bridge in a very suspicious manner, it stated The police team detained the person for verification, it added.

On proper verification the person was identified as Chingtham Romio Meitei alias Bijando, 42, son of Nabakeshwor Meitei of Kongba Laishram Leikai, Imphal East, it further stated.

He was verified to be a member of RPF/PLA. The police team further found that the arrested cadre joined RPF/PLA in the month of February 2016 through one (L) Bikramjit of Arong Nongmaikhong, it stated.

The arrested person underwent 60-day basic training at Rijik Camp, Myanmar and is presently holding a rank of self-styled Corporal with army number 3310 and working under the command of self-styled Lieutenant Pari of 253 Battalion of RPF/PLA, it stated.

He is being handed over to Heirok Police Station for further necessary legal action, it added.
