2,674 acres of poppy plantation destroyed in Manipur hill districts in January

A combined team of Manipur police destroyed around 40 acres of poppy plants at Tolhang hill range under the jurisdiction of Machi police station on Monday.

A total of about 2,674 acres of illegal poppy plantation in various hill districts of Manipur have been destroyed in the current year, Manipur Police said.

On Monday, a combined team of Manipur police destroyed around 40 acres of poppy plants at Tolhang hill range under the jurisdiction of Machi police station as a part of a series of drives conducted against destruction of illegal poppy plantations.

The combined team comprised of district police and district commando, Tengnoupal; Narcotics and affairs of Border (NAB), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion and 2nd Manipur Rifles.

The team was led by superintendent of police, Tengnoupal district and NAB, Th Vikramjit and Watham Basu.

The team was also assisted by additional superintendent of police, NAB  RK Saklemba; officer-in-charge, Tengnoupal district police John Lamkang; OC Machi police station, DK Angrung including OC NAB Bobby.
