Kholjang YC lifts TAYA Annual Sports Meet champion trophy

Kholjang Youth Club (A) team emerged Champion of the 43rd Tujang Area Youth Association (TAYA) Annual Sports 2021 after defeating Cananphai Youth Club in the final match on Monday at Tujang area playground, Kangpokpi district.

Kamkhosat hattricked in the 34th, 36th and 61st minutes and gave Kholjang Youth Club (A) a narrow 3-2 win over Cananphai Youth Club as the later managed to score two goals through Haokholet (29th) and Mangneo (77th-P) in the final match.

The closing ceremony of the sports meet was attended by Kangpokpi AC, MLA Nemcha Kipgen as chief guest while former executive member ADC, BP Vikas Basnet; former ADC Sadar Hills member, Milan Pradhan; and former ADC Sadar Hills member, Lamminthang Kipgen attended as guest honours. Former executive member ADC Sadar Hills, Lamkholen Kipgen attended as functional president.

After unveiling the winner's trophies in various categories, Nemcha Kipgen asserted that education and games and sports must go hand in hand as men cannot survive with education only without fitness.

Gratifying the Almighty for the blessed days amidst the pandemic COVID-19 hitting hard the people, Nemcha Kipgen said that “we are blessed today as we can resume our beautiful games and sports after almost a year owing to the pandemic COVID-19.”

The MLA also said that sports meet is the best place for inculcating team spirit and participation is more important than winning or losing while anticipating TAYA Annual Sports Meet that will bring a platform in raising the area’s sporting profile.

Former councillors of ADC Sadar Hills also spoke on the occasion exhorting the youths of Tujang area to exhibit the true sportsmanship spirit in the area.

Champion Kholjang Youth Club (A) team was awarded with a trophy, certificate, medal and cash prize while the runner-up Cananphai Youth Club was also awarded with shield cup, certificate, medal and cash prize.
