UNACCO Covid Care centre is ready to function and diagnose COVID-19 patients, said Chief Minister N Biren on his Facebook post uploaded on Friday.

The chief minister earlier announced during a visit on Tuesday at the said centre along with health minister and other officials that it will start functioning from Wednesday onwards. He mentioned that the said centre will have a capacity of 100 beds and can be extended to 300 beds.

A news report published by the Imphal Free Press on Thursday mentioned that the UNACCO COVID Care centre which is to be function fully from Wednesday remains incomplete and renovation work is continuing.

A Facebook post of chief minister, N Biren was uploaded on Friday along with a photograph of the centre with a caption “Now UNACCO COVID-19 HOSPITAL is ready”.

Informing the IFP earlier on Wednesday, director K Rajo mentioned that as the centre was not constructed as a hospital, it took time to complete the renovation work, but the centre will start functioning immediately as renovation work gets completed. He also mentioned that asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients will be kept at the said centre. The patients will be referred at RIMS or JNIMS hospital if the condition of a patient worsens, he added.
