Maram Union on Friday extended congratulations to Don Bosco College (DBC) Maram on being conferred autonomous status by Manipur University as per UGC (Conferment of Autonomous status upon Colleges and measures for maintenance of standards in Autonomous Colleges) Regulations 2018.
DBC was established in 2000 and it is located along the periphery of Maram NH-2, a release signed by general secretary Maram Union, Pungdi P Celestine stated. DBC has over 40,000 students from the entire Northeast states and other mainland states, making it a home of diversity from various cultures and backgrounds with many talents, it added.
The release stated that National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) had accredited the college with ‘A’ grade and a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) score of 3.46 on a scale of 4 point in 2015 for its progressive academic excellence since its inception.
DBC being the only college in the northeast states to attain the height of such academic performance, it offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, Science and a postgraduate that was developed recently in Sociology and English, it stated.
The release further stated that Maram community shall continue to support the college, which has placed Maram in the map of education, in its every endeavour especially at creating a peaceful and homely zone for the students and staff of the college outside its campus environment.
During the national lockdown imposed due to COVID-19, Maram civil bodies provided essential items to hundreds of the college students who were stuck at the college until they could finally return to their respective homes, the release added.
