PYC wins trophy in 15th Late Lt Colonel Rajeev Bakshi Football Tournament

PYC won the match with a score of 2-1 and claimed the trophy with certificate and a cash prize of Rs 35,000.

The final match of 15th Late Lt Colonel Rajeev Bakshi Football Tournament was played on Thursday at Parbung Public Ground.

The 15th edition of the tournament this year was jointly organised by 34 Assam Rifles and HPC (D) Manipur Region in collaboration with PYC and Village Authority of Parbung.

The football tournament in which  14 teams took part was held in memory of Late Lt Col Bakshi SM (P), who died at Parbung on January 20, 2006. The final match was played between Parbung Youth Club (PYC) and Damdiai Youth Club (DYC). PYC won the match with a score of 2-1 and claimed the trophy with certificate and a cash prize of Rs 35,000. The runners-up received a cash prize of Rs 23,000 with certificate.

The Golden Boot along with a cash prize of Rs 2,500 was won by Rosanglien of PYC, who scored 17 goals in the tournament which started on January 13 while Golden Glove and Rs 2,500 was won by goal keeper of PYC, Alfred Lalrinmaw.

The final match was attended by Commander of 27th Sector AR, Brig Ashish Ranjan as chief guest, while former minister, Ngursanglur and CO of 34 Aina Battalion, Col RS Karakoti were the guests of honour.

Members of the organising committee and villagers of the area also attended the final day of the tournament.

Brig Ashish Ranjan thanked the people of Pherzawl district for supporting the AR and said that he was moved by the support of the people and the zeal of the participating teams in the tournament. He also said he will personally contribute Rs 1,000 each to the 12 teams which did not make it to the final of the tournament.
