Republic Day 2021: Manipur Police issues traffic advisory for R-Day, rehearsal

The full dress rehearsal will be done on January 23.

Traffic diversions arranged in the interest and safety of the general public in connection with the 72nd Republic Day Celebration, which is to be observed on January 26, has been issued by superintendent of Police, Traffic Control Police Wing Khoisnam Sarma Devi on Wednesday.

The full dress rehearsal will be done on January 23 at 7 am while the main function will be held on January 26 as per programme, stated a notice issued by Traffic Control Police.

Vehicles shall not be allowed to ply towards north of Krishna Premi Oil pump, Moirangkhom on NH-2, Keishampat to Khwai Bazaar, Maharani Bridge to Dukanthong, Babuthong, Kangchup road to Flyover, Khoyathong to North AOC and Sanjenthong to Western Gate of Kangla and Keishampat Bridge from 6. 30 am to 8 am on January 23 and 26 until the rehearsal and the function is over, it stated. Vehicles of VIPs and the invitees with valid car passes issued by the state Home department shall be exempted from the mentioned diversion, it added.  

For Indo-Burma road, all vehicles coming from South towards North shall be diverted from Singjamei Bridge and New Thumbuthong Bridge towards Kongba side and proceed up to Palace Compound where parking space will be given, it stated.

The notice stated that for mayang Imphal road, all vehicles coming from South towards North shall be diverted from Keishampat Junction towards former Khrishnadas Oil pump to drop or pick up passengers beyond former Oil pump and will proceed towards Kwakeithel and further towards Ningthemcha Karong or Khagempalli road.

For NH 39, all vehicles coming from North towards South shall be diverted from Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani karak towards Khuman Lampak bus terminus. All vehicles shall be diverted from Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) office towards Minuthong, RDS Crossing, Kongba road then New Thumbuthong and Singjamei Bridge or towards Pandon road, Dingku Road, it added.

It further stated that for eastern sides (Yaingangpokpi/ Lamlai/ Porompat/ Andro etc) all vehicles shall be diverted towards Khuman Lampak Bus Terminus from RDS crossing via Lamlong Bazaar.

As for Trucks, they shall be diverted from Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak towards Khuman Lampak bus terminus or towards RDS crossing, Singjamei Bazaar crossing and Thumbuthong for Indo-Burma road towards Pishumthong for Mayang Imphal to Tiddim Road, it added.

No vehicles shall be allowed to proceed from Palace Gate Traffic Point towards Sanjengthong side and no vehicle shall be allowed to proceed from Minuthong towards North AOC, the notice stated.

For New Cachar road (NH-53), all the vehicles coming from New Cachar road shall be parked at Sagolband Moirang Leirak Bus Parking, it further stated while adding trucks shall be diverted from Tera Bazar towards Naoremthong Uripok Canteen road and Lamphel Sanakeithel, Lamphelpat.

It stated that for Kangchup road, all the vehicles coming from Kanchup side shall park at the northern side of Uripok Kangchup road (i.e. beyond the end of Flyover Bridge).

For Tiddim road, all vehicles shall be diverted from Kwakeithel Bazar towards Tera Bazar, Naoremthong, Uripok Canteen Leirak road, Lamphel Supermarket and allowed to return via Watham Leirak, Thangmeiband road, Nagamapal road, Wahengbam Leikai road, Keishampat Junction.

It stated that passengers can be picked up from Churachandpur Bus Parking, Keishampat near former Khrishnadas Oil Pump. For emergency services or duties, there shall be no diversion for any such vehicles, it added.
