Indian Army joins nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive in Leimakhong

A total of 40 healthcare workers of Red Shield Division were administered Covishield vaccine in the first phase of the launch on Tuesday.

COVID-19 vaccination for Army Healthcare workers was launched in Manipur at Military Hospital, Leimakhong Military Station and 40 healthcare workers of Red Shield Division were administered Covishield vaccine in the first phase of the launch on Tuesday.

A release by PIB (Defence Wing) said that a solemn ceremony for the launch of vaccination at Military Hospital, was attended by deputy GOC of Red Shield Division and station commander of Leimakhong Military Station, Brig K Loganathan; DC of Imphal (West), N Praveen Singh; state immunisation officer, Dr Th Nandakishwor Singh; CMO of Imphal West, Dr H Kula Singh; surveillance officer, WHO, Dr Apao; and district immunisation officer, Dr Th Shantajit Singh besides the doctors, staff and healthcare workers of Military Hospital.

The Imphal West DC gave out a broad execution plan of vaccination drive and expressed confidence of its success, it added.

In his address, Brig K Loganathan appreciated all the COVID-19 warriors for their yeoman service during the pandemic. He also thanked the DC and officials of the Department of Health, Government of Manipur for the assistance provided to the army by them. He further assured civil administration of all the assistance in the fight against COVID-19, the release said.
