Manipur: One arrested in arms and drugs case in Thoubal

Thoubal Police had already arrested five accused persons and seized many types of equipment, chemicals used in the manufacturing of heroin brown sugar.

Thoubal District Police, under the supervision of SP, S Ibomcha Singh arrested one person on Sunday in connection with the involvement in manufacturing drugs and possession of arms.

According to police, the arrested person has been identified as Md Abdul, 56, son of late Hayat Ali of Moijing Wangmataba. He was at large for about one year and arrested in connection with FIR No. 7(1)2020 TBL PS  U/S 21/29/60(3) ND and PS Act added with 25(1-C) Arms act.

The source further disclosed that the accused was involved in the aforementioned case along with his other associates. Thoubal Police had already arrested five accused persons and seized many types of equipment, chemicals used in the manufacturing of heroin brown sugar including one 9 mm pistol and one stolen Enfield in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, a team of Thoubal district commando arrested one proscribed over-ground worker of outlawed outfit KYKL on Saturday. As per police source, the arrested over-ground worker was identified as Konthoujam Kabichandra, 26, alias Kabi, son of late Tolpishak of Poiroukhongjil Awang Leikai, Imphal East. 

On further interrogation, the arrested OGW disclosed that he is working under one Maibam Jagat alias Romen of Hiyanglam Warakhong market of Kakching district. The arrested person and the seized mobile phone were handed over to Andro PS for taking up further necessary action, the source added.

On the other hand, a combined team of Thoubal commando and Khongjom PS team led by OC K Santosh conducted a house to house search operation at Papal Mayai Leikai under Khongjom PS jurisdiction on Sunday. The operation was conducted from 6 am to 7.30 am as a part of preventive security measures with the upcoming Republic day celebration 2021. During the search operation, about 97 houses were searched and 280 individuals both male and female were verified. During the search operation, no individual was detained, the source mentioned.
