Amid the lockdown, prices of essential items and other consumer goods have been soaring, adding to the common man's woes in the fight against coronavirus. In an effort to tackle price rise issue, the Moreh Consumers’ Club (MCC) on Thursday conducted a joint meeting of shop owners of Moreh at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung and deliberated on the problems of the shop owners and price rise of essential commodities during the COVID-19 pandemic
MCC president Seiboi Haokip presided the meeting in the presence of executive members. Several shop owners of the town attended the meeting. Different shop owners also highlighted their grievances due to higher vehicle fare.
The meeting also agreed to work jointly for the betterment of shop owners and the society. It also resolved that all shop owners should submit their details for obtaining vehicle pass after verification by MCC.
MCC thanked all the shop owners who made a self contribution for the donation to COVID- 19 relief fund. It also praised the deputy commissioner, Tengnoupal for the initiative taken up for donation.
MCC will be holding another meeting at the earliest along with village chiefs and officials of district administration to plan for availing of essential commodities at remote border villages.
