Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surges to 28,725 with 32 new cases

No new COVID-19 fatalities were reported in Manipur for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

The COVID-19 caseload in Manipur on Tuesday surged to 28,725 as 32 more persons were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases while the death toll stood at 365 with no new COVID-19 deaths for the third consecutive day since Sunday, the state health department said. 

According to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 30 new positive cases are from the general population while two are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.

The new positive cases from the general population included four from Imphal West, seven each from Imphal East and Thoubal, three from Bishnupur, five from Tamenglong, and one each from Kakching, Chandel, Kamjong and Churachandpur, the release added.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the state Health Services spokesperson and Additional Director Kh Sasheekumar Mangang said in the release.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of recovered cases in the state rose to 27,879 as 28 more persons recuperated from the infection on Tuesday. With it, the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 481 and the recovery rate was 97.05 per cent, the release added. 

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves immediately and contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing.

In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid-19 Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818; for home isolation-related cases, home isolation helpline numbers- 0385-2414009 (State headquarter) and - 8415944151 (Thoubal), the state health services stated.

One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website -  www.esanjeevaniopd.in.

The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing.
