KJP Synod hails decision to defer reopening of places of worship

The KJP Synod Mihngi has also urged all members of the church to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the state government from time to time to ensure that efforts to contain the spread of the virus are not scuttled.

The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian (KJP) Synod Mihngi has lauded the decision of the Government of Meghalaya to defer the re-opening of places of worship in the state.

In this regard, the Senior Executive Secretary, KJP Synod Mihngi, Rev Dr H C T Sumer has urged all churches under the Synod Mihngi to extend their support to the government in its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state by not holding any church services in their respective churches or any mass gatherings.

“Till the government decides otherwise, we urge everyone to cooperate with the deferment of the reopening of places of worship,” Rev Dr Sumer said.

The KJP Synod Mihngi has also urged all members of the church to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the state government from time to time to ensure that efforts to contain the spread of the virus are not scuttled.

Meanwhile, the KJP Synod Mihngi has also expressed its gratitude to the government and its efforts to contain and prevent the spread of the virus. To mark this gratitude, it has donated Rs 2 lakhs towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
