Manipur: Tamenglong all set to cover 1,143 frontline workers in first phase of COVID-19 vaccination

Tamenglong DC and chairman of District Task Force on COVID-19 Armstrong Pame said that at least 15 per cent of the district’s population has been tested for COVID-19.

As the entire country is likely to rollout COVID-19 vaccination by the end of January in three phases, the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination in Tamenglong district will cover 1,143 frontline workers, said district immunisation officer and COVID-19 vaccination nodal officer Dr Sunil Kamei.

Dr Sunil Kamei was speaking to media persons on the sideline of a mock drill of COVID-19 vaccination held at the district hospital Duigailong, Tamenglong. 

The dry run for COVID-19 vaccination was attended by deputy commissioner of Tamenglong and chairman of District Task Force on COVID-19, Armstrong Pame; chief medical officer, Dr Chambo Gonmei; sub- divisional officer, Chawdhuri Mahesh; additional SP, Karthik Maladi; SDPO, Josiah Pamei; zonal education officer, Dimonang Pamei; Anganwadi supervisors and ASHAs.

Urging the people of Tamenglong to come out and get tested for COVID-19, Armstrong Pame stated that Tamenglong district has the highest testing rate in the entire state. He said that at least 15 per cent of the district’s population has been tested. 

Meanwhile, dry run or mock drill exercise for COVID-19 vaccination was also conducted at Noney PHC under the leadership of deputy commissioner of Noney, Kh Robert and CMO, Dr G Majachungliu (Gracy). 

The programme was attended by district programme manager, RK Bijata Devi; PRO of UNDP, Manipur, MA Kasim; DSO of Noney, Dr Thaimei Gairanlung Rabi; MO in-charge of PHC Noney, Dr Kamei Lumjangliu; five team members of Vaccination Police, teachers and 25 dummy beneficiaries.
