COVID-19: New daily cases in Manipur remain below 50

Manipur recorded 38 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Sunday.

The daily new COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur continued to remain below the 50-mark on Sunday with 38 new cases, taking the state's COVID-19 caseload to 28,281, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 26,815 with 33 new recoveries, the state health department said. 

As per the latest updates by the COVID-19 common control room, 37 cases of the new positive cases on Sunday are from the general population, while one is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. 

Of the new positive cases from the general population, 19 cases are from Imphal West, six from Bishnupur, four from Thoubal, three from Tamenglong, two from Imphal East, and one each from Kakching, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.

All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the COVID-19 common control room said in a release.

A 65-year-old-female from Imphal West who died at RIMS hospital in Imphal became the latest COVID-19 victim in Manipur, taking the death toll to 358.

Meanwhile, with the 33 new recoveries, the state's recovery rate improved to 94.81 per cent and the active caseload stood at 1,108 (General Population - 996 and Central Security Personnel - 112), the release stated.

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves immediately, contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818; for home isolation-related cases, one can dial the home isolation helpline numbers- 0385-2414009 (State head quarter) and - 8415944151 (Thoubal), the state health services stated.

One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website -  www.esanjeevaniopd.in.

The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing.
