Manipur cricket team is all pumped up with the New Year spirit as they head to take part at the T-20 Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2020-21 Tournament (Plate Group) in Chennai. As fans wait with excitement, team Manipur will play their first match against Meghalaya on January 11.
The 26 senior member squad, named by the Manipur Cricket Association (MCA) left Imphal for Chennai from the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport on Saturday.
The 26-member squad includes six support staff led by Shiv Sunder Das as Head Coach, Ph Rohindro as Assistant Coach, Manish Jha as Trainer, Th Kamlesh as Physio, L Geeranjan Singh as Team Manager and Dr Th Collin Singh as Team Physician.
Senior cricketer Rajkumar Rex Singh lead as team skipper.
Other players include Bisworjit Singh Konthoujam, M Gemson, Narsing Yadav, L Kishan Singha, Nitesh Sedai, L Ajay Singh, M Langlonyamba Singh, Y Karnajit, P Prafullomani Singh, N Denin, N Sarojkumar, S Jayanta, Th Kishan and Saddam Ahmed Shah. Six more players are in the reserve list.
As a precautionary measure against COVID-19 pandemic, the Manipur team will be put up and quarantined at Hotel Leela Palace for six-day on their arrival and will undergo a total three COVID-19 tests.
The Plate Group comprises teams from Manipur, Chandigarh, Bihar, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Mizoram.
Manipur in its five matches will take on Meghalaya on January 11, Chandigarh on January 13, Arunachal Pradesh on January 15, Bihar on January 17 and Nagaland on January 19.
