Under Fit India Movement, Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club; and Adventure Cell of Manipur University, Canchipur conducted a One-Day Adventure Programme on December 30 at Manipur Mountaineering Institute (MMI) Lamdan, Imphal West on the theme ‘Build Up Confidence, Courage and Characters’.
A release by the convener of Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club, Manipur University, N Santosh Singh stated that registrar of Manipur University, professor W Chandbabu Singh flagged off the adventure team from the traffic point of the university around 6:30 am on December 30.
Before flagging off, Chandbabu has said that adventure activities are one of the best tools to develop confidence, to shape good human personalities and to build leadership quality, courage, team spirit, friendship and trust among each other.
Santosh highlighted the theme of the campaign and importance of the adventure activities which makes the people and nation healthy. Adventure sports, today, have gained worldwide recognition as an activity which contributes most significantly to the harmonious development of body and mind of youths, he said.
Training in-charge of the programme, K Romeo Meitei expressed that adventure sports push one to get out of their comfort zone and perform an adventurous task. He also opined that adventure sports enhances body and mind coordination and elevates concentration level.
Altogether, 60 participants from various departments of the university including teachers took part in the adventure programme which included different activities like Trekking, Zip-Lining, Burma Bridge, Monkey Crawl, Jhoomering and Ladder Climbing.
