Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur organised 11th annual conference of Dalit Sahitya at Manipur Press Club on Tuesday.
During the programme, various awards were presented which included Khoirolgi Athoiba Mapari Award 2020 to Moirangthem Rajendro Singh and Best Nurse of the Year COVID-19, 2020 to Naorem Nganbi Devi.
Moreover, Apoi Maichou Ningsing Mana 2020 was awarded to Irabot Ningthouja, Meishnam Anilkumar Singh and Yumnam Babidkumar Mangang; and Dr BR Ambedkar International Award 2020 was given to Thokchom Ritankumar Singh, Elangbam Radharani Devi, Laimujam Pratap Singh and Mairenbam Maniton Singh. The Indian Star National Award 2020 was given to Waikhom Sanajaoba Singh and Dr BR Ambedkar National Award 2020 was shared by altogether 24 recipients.
Attending the function as chief guest, Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba congratulated all the award recipients and encouraged them to make use of their skill and talent for betterment of the society.
He stated that there is no habit of appreciating people in Manipuri society, such mentality needs to be changed in order to bring progress and development in the state. He also assured to provide maximum support from his side for the welfare of Dalit Sahitya Academy.
The programme was also attended by MLA of Sekmai assembly constituency, Heikham Dingo Singh; president of Japanese Hospital, Manipur, Rajen Ayangba; social activist, Ibotombi Khuman and national secretary of Dalit Sahitya Academy and convenor of Global Corona Warrior Committee, India, Yumnam Mahendrakumar Singh as special guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
