Manipur's daily new COVID-19 cases dip below 50

Thirty-six persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Tuesday.

The daily new COVID-19 cases in Manipur touched a new low on Tuesday with less than 50 new cases, while the recoveries surged to 26,521 with 43 new recoveries, the state health department said. 

A total of 36 persons, including two personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Tuesday, taking the COVID-19 caseload to 28,096, while the death toll increased to 353 with five new fatalities, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

The new COVID-19 victims on Tuesday include a 57-year-old woman from Churachandpur, a 90-year-old man from Tamenglong, a 70-year-old man from Imphal West, a 90-year-old woman from Imphal West and a 70-year-old woman from Kakching.

Of the new positive cases from the general population, 16 are from Imphal East, nine from Imphal West, foru from Tamenglong, two from Bishnupur, and one each from Thoubal, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, the release stated. 

All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state's recovery rate improved to 94.39 per cent and the COVID-19 active caseload stood at 1,222. it added.

The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing. It also advised those in contact with a positive patient to self-isolate themselves immediately, contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing.
