Preparations in place to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Manipur

The union home minister will be landing at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal at 11 am from where he will be headed to Hapta Kangjeibung to address a public gathering.

The Manipur Government has made all the necessary preparations to welcome Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will be arriving in Imphal on Sunday.

The union home minister will be landing at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal at 11 am from where he will be headed to Hapta Kangjeibung to address a public gathering.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday inspected the preparation work to welcome Shah at Hapta Kangjeibung ground. Dr Jitendra Singh Union Minister of State (incharge) Ministry of DoNER will also take part in the public meeting.

Before addressing the public, the union home minister will launch statewide Roll-out of e-office followed by laying of foundation stones for as many as seven major projects including, Churachandpur Medical College worth Rs 325 crore, IIT Mayangkhang worth Rs 128 crore, IT-SEZ at Mantripukhri Rs 950 crore, State Government Guest House worth Rs 237.49 crore, State police headquarter building worth Rs 50 crore, 3rd Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka, New Delhi worth Rs 167 crore and Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) under smart city Imphal worth Rs 29.5 crore.

Security measures have been beefed up in Imphal particularly in and around the venue where the Union Minister will be addressing a public gathering.

After the public rally, Shah is likely to meet representatives of several civil bodies from 2 pm to 5pm at Classic Grande.

It is learnt that the main reason for Amit Shah’s visit in the state is pertaining to finalisation of the Indo-Naga peace talks which reportedly at its final stage. A team of UNC, Kuki Inpi Manipur, valley based civil bodies among others are likely to interact with the Home Minister. He will leave Imphal at 5.30 pm.
