Covid-19 claims three more lives in Manipur

The Covid death toll rose to 344 in Manipur on Friday.

Covid-19 claimed three more lives on Friday, pushing the number of deaths to 344, while 67 persons (39 males and 28 females) from the general population were confirmed as new positive cases, the state health department said. 

The new positive cases included 26 from Imphal West, 29 from Imphal, one from Thoubal, five from Bishnupur, two from Kakching and four from Tamenglong, a release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room stated. 

All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated. 

All the three persons who died are from Imphal East. The total number of discharged persons is 74, the release added.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 27,943 (General Population - 24 603 and Central Security Personnel - 3,340). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 26,247 (General Population - 23,029 and Central Security Personnel - 3,218). The number of active cases is 1,352 (General Population - 1,234 and Central Security Personnel - 118). The recovery rate is 93.93 per cent. 

The state health department advised the public to dial- 104 MANIPUR MENTAL HEALTH HELPLINE (9 am to 9 pm), for mental wellbeing.
