Rajya Sabha Polls: Three candidates file nominations in Mizoram

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on June 10 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is on June 12 and the election and counting of votes will be held on June 19.

Three candidates from Mizo National Front (MNF), Congress and Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) have filed nominations on Tuesday for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election in Mizoram.

Mizo National Front (MNF) has fielded K Kanlalvena who is the youth wing president of the party, while the Congress has fielded P.C. Zoram Sangliana, who is one of the members of the ‘political affairs committee’ of the party.

For the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), its general secretary B Lalchhanzova will contest the election.

The last date for filing nominations was Tuesday, June 9. The state has only one Rajya Sabha seat.

In the 40-member assembly of Mizoram, MNF has 27 MLAs, ZPM has 7 MLAs, the Congress with 5 MLAs and BJP with an MLA.
