Chief Minister N Biren on Tuesday said that the inmates who violate the rules and regulations of quarantine centres will be sent to jail under the Disaster Management Act.
During a ‘virtual rally’ conducted at the present state, BJP office located at Canchipur, Imphal, he said that the government will not tolerate any person or group of individuals who violate the rules and regulations to be followed within the premises of the quarantine centers.
He said, the numbers of COVID-19 positive cases have increased in the last few days. The government has informed the authority concerned to strictly enforce the rules and regulations to be followed inside the quarantine centers, he said.
Most of the active cases are returnees, who are staying at the quarantine centers, he informed. Though they are instructed to follow the rules inside the quarantine center, most of the inmates do not wear face masks, follow social distancing and others, he added.
He also highlighted the contributions made by the government for the people and the change in the law and order situation of the state.
He further appealed to the people to follow the guidelines and rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As a part of the ‘virtual rally’, union minister Prahlad Singh Patel delivered a speech to the people through video conferencing. He highlighted the contributions made by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi with the arrival of the first anniversary of the PM’s second term.
It is said that the state will conduct video conferencing at mandal level at 75 centers.
State BJP president S Tikendra Singh said that the motive behind organising such meetings for most political parties is to organise a mass gathering. The ‘virtual rally’ with the help of video conferencing allows such gatherings of various workers from different mandals without violating the protocols and guidelines to avoid the spread of COVID-19, he added.
