Generic drugs to promote through Jan Aushadhi

All healthcare providers, especially doctors, in Manipur who are registered medical practitioners, are advised to prescribe generic drugs based on the National/State List of Essential Medicines (N/SLEM), the Health Department, Government of Manipur, stated in a memorandum.

It also stated that the revamped Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) was launched by the Government of India in 2017.

The scheme booklet stated that the "Jan Aushadhi initiative is to make available quality drugs at affordable prices through dedicated stores selling generic medicines, which are being sold at lesser prices but are as effective and equivalent in efficacy as expensive branded drugs.”
