Manipur Health director clarifies
Directorate of Health Services Manipur on Tuesday issued a clarification regarding the cadre strength of allopathy doctors in Manipur Health Service. Director, Health Services Manipur K Rajo Singh on Tuesday stated that of a total of 2,138 sanctioned posts in Manipur Health Service (MHS) (allopathy), strength is 1,254, including 751 Medical Officers (MOs) in MHS Grade IV but not 2138 sanctioned posts in MHS including 1385 post in MHS grade-IV. A statement issued by Rajo said that the government has already initiated the process for direct recruitment of at least 300 Medical Officers in MHS Grade-IV through the Manipur Public Services Commission. Besides for COVID pandemic related duties, 86 MOs have been contractually engaged so far and 150 MOs will be contractually engaged further, it added.
UNLF Clarifies
The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has stated that one Sapam Shantikumar alias Manaoton Macha, 46, son of S Mani from Keibi Kumuda Maning Leikai, is not related to the organisation in any manner or form. As per reports published in some local dailies, he was arrested by a team of CDO Imphal West on Sunday during a search operation at Keibi Kumuda Maning Leikai, stated a release issued by director department of publicity M Sak-hen on Tuesday. He was allowed to retire from UNLF in August 2017 with the approval of general headquarters, Manipur People’s Army (MPA), it stated.
Manaoton Macha, after retirement, was arrested three times by Manipur Police Commando and went through several torture and violations, the release stated. His retirement from the organisation was categorically stated in two different press releases issued on September 12, 2017, PR/NO/DOP/497/DT12/09/2017 and December 12, 2108 PR/NO.DOP/519/DT.12/12/2018 respectively, it stated. Therefore, it is hereby clarified that Manaoton Macha alias Shantikumar is no longer a member of UNLF, it added.
