As many as 23 people were fined Rs 200 each for not wearing face masks at public places in Churachandpur on Tuesday, police sources said.

The Churachadpur police said they collected a total fine of Rs 4,600 from the 23 people who violated SOP guidelines at public places. One Echo Van was also wheel-locked by the traffic police for parking on the wrong side.

The van driver unscrewed the locked tyre and attempted to escape using the spare tyre of the van, but the police caught him again. The van driver has been penalised under Section 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, the police added.
