The COVID-19 caseload in Manipur increased to 26,396 with 171 new positive cases, while the death toll surged to 311 as two more persons succumbed to the viral infection on Tuesday, the state health department said.
The new positive cases included 164 persons (77 males and 87 females) from the general population and seven personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Of the new positive cases from the general population, 66 are from Imphal West, 58 from Imphal East, 16 from Bishnupur, eight from Ukhrul, six from Thoubal, two each from Kakching, Tamenglong, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, and one each from Tengnoupal and Senapati.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Of the total 26,396 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, 2,919 are active cases while 23,166 are recovered cases, the state health department said.
COVID-19 claimed two more lives in Manipur on Tuesday. The two COVID-19 fatalities, both male, were from Imphal West, it stated.
Meanwhile, the state's COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 87.76 per cent with 169 new recoveries, the release stated.
The state health department further advised those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818.
