Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij tests COVID-19 positive weeks after getting trial dose of Covaxin

Viz, 67, was administered a trial dose of COVID-19 vaccine of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin on November 20.  The health minister was the first in the state who volunteered in the third trial of Covaxin.

Haryana's Health Minister Anil Vij on Saturday said that he tested positive for coronavirus, barely two weeks after he got vaccinated a trial dose of COVID-19 vaccine - Covaxin.

Announcing that he has contracted coronavirus on Twitter, the health minister said that he is admitted at the Civil Hospital in Ambala and appealed to all who had come in close contact with him to get themselves tested for COVID-19.

"I have been tested Corona positive. I am admitted in Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt. All those who have come in close contact to me are advised to get themselves tested for corona," Vij tweeted on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, following Vij announcement of being tested positive for coronavirus, the Union Health Ministry on Saturday stated that the antibodies against the infection build up in a human being only after a specific number of days pass after the second dose of the vaccine is taken.

"This is a two-dose vaccine. The minister in question has taken only one dose of the vaccine," the Union Health Ministry added.
