National Newborn Week 2020 launched in Manipur

The theme of National Newborn Week of this year is “quality, equality, dignity for every newborn at every health facility and everywhere”.

The National Newborn Week 2020 was launched at the state mission director’s office located at Directorate of Health Services, Imphal, Manipur, by state Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), N Shyamjai on Thursday.

The theme of National Newborn Week of this year is “quality, equality, dignity for every newborn at every health facility and everywhere”.

The week, which will conclude on December 9, aims to carry out awareness programme which includes virtual training programmes in state level, district level, community, and block as well as village level.

The aim of celebrating the week is to raise awareness about the importance of the care for the newborn for child survival and health development, said director N Shyamjai.

At the launching event SMD, state health society (SHS), NHM-Manipur, SNO, Child health and other other health officials were present.

The National Newborn Week dedicated for the reduction of newborn mortality rate in India was conceptualised by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
