‘No business of private security agencies allowed without license’

No person shall carry on or start a business of private security agency, unless, he or she holds a license as per the Section 4 of the Manipur Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Rules, 2019, the Home department announced Thursday.

The Manipur Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Rules, 2019 came into force in Manipur with effect from the day of its publication on Manipur Extra-Ordinary Gazette on June 20, 2019, stated a release.  

With the implementation of PSAR Act in the state of Manipur, it is informed to all concerned more particularly to all agencies and institutions who are engaging or providing security guards to apply and obtain licenses for running private security agencies through the state controlling authority i.e. special secretary (Home), the government of Manipur, it stated.  

The release stated that any person carrying on the business of a private security agency, immediately before the commencement of this Act, may continue to do so for a period of one year from the date of such commencement. If the person or company has made an application for such license within the said period of one year, then the person can continue till the disposal of such application, it added.        

The release urged all business establishments, government and private institutions, societies etc. to engage or hire private security guards or supervisors from licensed agencies only.
