At least 10 disabled persons of Heirok Assembly constituency of Thoubal district in Manipur were provided ‘Free Travel’ passes and ‘Caregiver Allowance’ cards on Thursday.
BJP MLA Thokchom Radhesyam handed out six ‘Free Travel’ passes and 66 ‘Caregiver Allowance’ cards to 10 disabled persons from Heirok Assembly constituency on the occasion of International Day of Disabled Persons 2020 on Thursday.
The MLA carried out the initiative under the ‘Chief Minister Gi Sotharaba Sing Gi Tengbang’ scheme during a function held at his residence located at Heirok Part-II, Thokchom Leikai.
The remaining Free Travel passes and Caregiver Allowance cards will be handed over to the beneficiaries at their respective doorsteps, he said.
Speaking during the occasion, Radheshyam said the passes and allowance cards will help the disabled and individuals dependent on others in leading a better life.
He further maintained that the BJP government has taken up many schemes for people born with disabilities, and the Caregiver Allowance card initiated under the scheme of ‘Chief Minister Gi Sotharaba Sing Gi Tengbang’ will be provided a sum of Rs 1,500 per month.
He urged all the concerned of Heirok assembly constituency to inform local Polling Office bearers, Social Welfare nominee of the MLA or directly him in case they have not got any benefits out of the welfare schemes taken up by the government. Radheshyam also maintained that he will work towards giving away every rightful benefit to the two 106 and 104 years old women of Heirok assembly constituency.
The occasion was attended by Social Welfare nominee of Heirok AC, Moirangthem Tomba, BJP Heirok Mandal president, Thokchom Chourjit and social worker Moirangthem Ibothem as presidium members.
