Manipur's COVID-19 death toll nears 300; confirmed caseload 25,536

COVID-19 death toll in Manipur inched closer to the 300-mark as three more persons died due to the viral infection on Thursday and the confirmed caseload mounted to 25,536, the state health department said. 

The death toll in the state is now 294, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. The new COVID-19 fatalities included two from Imphal West and one from Bishnupur, it added.

The state health department said that a total of 146 persons, including 11 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel tested COVID-19 positive in a day.

The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West - 49, Imphal East - 41, Thoubal - 10, Bishnupur - 17, Kakching - 3, Ukhrul -2, Tamenglong - 4, Senapati - 1, Churachandpur - 7 and Tengnoupal - 1. 

All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

Of the total 25,536 confirmed caseload in Manipur, 3,070 are active cases while 22,172 patients have recovered. The state's recovery rate stood at 86.82 per cent on Thursday.

The state health department further advised those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818.
