Ellen Page changes name to Elliot Page, vows to strive for more equal society

Revealing himself as gay in 2014, Page said he will continue to fight for LGBTQ rights.

Ellen Page has changed his name as Elliot Page and expressed the joy of being a queer.

Announcing the change in name in a statement on Twitter, the 33-year-old Inception star said he has been “endlessly inspired” by so many in the trans community and said he would continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.

"I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I've been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community,” Page tweeted.

Revealing himself as gay in 2014, Page said he will continue to fight for LGBTQ rights.

“Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society," Page wrote on Twitter.

Page expressed the love of being a queer and love for all, and said he would do everything to change the world for better.

"I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.

"To all trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better," Page added.

The Hollywood actor, who also stars in Juno and The Umbrella Academy, hails from Nova Scotia, Canada and is married to dancer Emma Portner since 2018.
