Vexed over the deplorable road condition between Lamlai police station to Mapithel Dam of 28 km stretch that passes through several villages, the Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur has urged the Manipur governor to look into the matter.
A letter from AIMS signed by its director Atom Sunil Singh pointed out that the road passed through many villages, including Lamlai, Napet Palli, Nongren Meetei, Kakching, Laikoiching, Oksu Meetei, Kasom Tangkhul, Moirangpurel, Tamukhong Meetei, Nongdam Tangkhul and Louphong among others.
It is a very significant route not only for the villagers, but also for the people of Manipur since Louphong is famous for tourist attraction due to its scenic beauty and renowned for quarry where Manipur’s finest quality of sand is available, it said.
The letter contended that despite the significance of the road, it is in a deplorable condition.
It further said that people have been reeling under the pathetic road condition in addition to the panic caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The route has been neglected for many years and many have become victims of road accidents,” it lamented and urged for the repairing of road for the welfare and for the safety of the people of the villages who are suffering for many years.
