The Manipur government will extend every possible help for the welfare and upliftment of the lives of differently-abled people living in the state, Social Welfare Minister Okram Henry said in Imphal Monday.
The social welfare minister was speaking at a distribution ceremony of aids and appliances to senior citizens and persons with disabilities under various government schemes.
Speaking as chief guest of the ceremony held at Oinam Sawombung, Henry appreciated the efforts made by members of Disabled Development Association Manipur (DDAM) towards the welfare of the differently-abled persons of the state.
During the programme, Henry sought suggestions and support of the people towards uplifting the lives of the people living with any disability.
"For better accessibility and communication between the government and various stakeholders, the website of the Social Welfare department will be functional and a mobile app would be launched soon," he said. He added that any grievances and suggestions can be lodged in the website or mobile application.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi said that disabled persons are endowed with remarkable talents, amazing abilities and capabilities. He also cited examples of extraordinary personalities who are disabled but leading a successful life and contributed to society.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Social Welfare deputy director (Disabilities), L Dhaneshwor, DDAM advisor, Kiran Yendrembam and others attended the function.
