The number of COVID-19 patients under home isolation in Manipur has mounted to 7,012, of which 5,663 have recovered while 1,058 are active cases, the state health department said on Tuesday.
Manipur's COVID-19 caseload increased to 25,243 (General Population - 22,119 and Central Security Personnel - 3,124) on Tuesday as 156 persons the from general population and 42 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in a day, a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The new positive cases from the general population included 68 from Imphal West, 41 from Imphal East, 21 from Bishnupur, seven from Thoubal, six from Ukhrul, three from Kakching, two each from Tamenglong, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Jiribam, and one each from Senapati and Chandel, the release stated.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
On Tuesday, a total of eight persons succumbed to COVID-19, pushing the state's death toll 289. The new COVID-19 fatalities included three from Imphal East, two from Bishnupur, and one each from Imphal West, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul and Senapati, the state health department said.
While there are 3,236 active cases (General Population - 2,899 and Central Security Personnel - 337) in the state, the cumulative number of recovered cases is now 21,718 (General Population - 18,935 and Central Security Personnel 2,783) with 152 new recoveries in a day. The recovery rate is 86.03 per cent, it added.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
