Manipur: Two accused of Singjamei PS test COVID-19 positive

The two accused have been shifted to COVID Care Centre (CCC) of JNIMS, Porompat, Imphal.

Two accused persons, who were remanded to police custody at Singjamei Police Station, have been tested COVID-19 positive and accordingly shifted to COVID Care Centre (CCC) of JNIMS, Porompat in Imphal on Saturday.

The accused persons are Gurumayum Birchandra Sharma alias Molecule, 72, son of (Late) G Ibopishak Sharma of Chingamakha Ngakraba Leirak and RK Chandraban Singh alias Chinglensana, 61, son of RK Dolansana of Kakwa Lilando Lampak, presently staying at Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai.

In an order signed by superintendent of police of Imphal West, K Meghachandra Singh, it stated that Molecule was arrested under FIR number 133(11)2020 SJM PS u/s 307/447 IPC and 25(1-b) Arms Act; and Chandraban was arrested under FIR number 129(11)2020 SJM PS u/s 17/20 UA(P) Act.

It further stated that under tight security led by an assistant sub-inspector, the two accused will be guarded at the CCC to avoid from being escaped and to prevent unwanted incidents. The police personnel will be guarding the two accused round the clock till they get discharged, it added.
