COVID-19 in Manipur: Seven more fatalities push death toll to 263; total caseload 24,749

As many as 230 persons from the general population and five personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases on Saturday.

COVID-19 claimed seven more lives in Manipur, pushing the state's death toll to 263 and the total caseload climbed to 24,749 on Saturday as 230 persons from the general population and five personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, the state health department said.  

The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West - 77, Imphal East - 42, Thoubal - 16, Bishnupur - 16, Kakching - 16, Tamenglong - 6, Ukhrul - 1, Senapati - 4, Kangpokpi - 1, Churachandpur - 47, Chandel - 1, Tengnoupal - 1, Jiribam - 1 and Noney - 1, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The new COVID-19 fatalities on Saturday include one each from Tamenglong, Chandel, Imphal East, and Thoubal and three from Imphal West. The cumulative number of deaths is 263, the release stated.

Meanwhile, 197 more patients recovered from COVID-19 on Saturday, pushing the total number of recoveries to 21,203 (General Population - 18,425 and Central Security Personnel 2,778). The recovery rate is 85.67 per cent.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 3,283 (General Population - 2,984 and Central Security Personnel - 299), it added.

Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818, the state health services stated. One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website -  www.esanjeevaniopd.in.
