Over 40,000 beneficiaries in Mizoram will benefit from the Mizoram State Health Care Scheme (MSHCS), sources said.
The scheme was launched on October 1, 2019. A beneficiary can receive the health insurance up to Rs 2 lakh cover in one year under the scheme.

According to an official in the Health department, 4,0561 beneficiaries have registered under the scheme till April 2020.
Now, the registration period has lapsed. The official of the Health department said that the department “has extended for the record nine times for registration and closed in the month of May 2020.
According to the official, the state government has released more than Rs 18 crore. The official added that over 6,000 beneficiaries have received the scheme till May 2020.

The official then said that the state government will release Rs 1 crore, and from where nearly 400 beneficiaries will avail the scheme within this month.
