The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Thursday observed a condolence meeting on the demise of veteran Congress leader and MP (Rajya Sabha) Ahmed Patel and expressed deep sorrow.
Mourning the loss of the great leader, the MPCC members observed a two-minute silence at the condolence meeting held at the Congress Bhavan, B.T Road Imphal on Wednesday. The condolence meeting, which was chaired by MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro, resolved to fly the Congress party flag at half-mast for three days as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
Congress Legislative Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh stated, “It is a great loss for us that someone irreplaceable like him has gone too soon. Many a time, he was elected in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha but he was always noble and simple. Because of his simplicity, he not only earned respect from his party but also from other political parties.”
"Ahmed Patelji spent years in public life as Congressman and stood for the party through its most difficult times. He died as serving member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, and treasurer of the Indian National Congress party. We share the grief of his family, dear and near ones," MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro said.
The condolences meeting was attended by CWC member Gaikhangam, MLA K. Ranjit, Ak Mirabai, Ex MLAs, office bearers, chief frontals and sympathizer.
