Manipur's COVID-19 tally rose to 23,650 on Monday as 248 persons were confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the death toll mounted to 238, the state health department said.
The new positive cases included 23 cases from Lilong and Wangjing Assembly Constituencies and two personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West - 69, Imphal East - 106, Thoubal - 40, Bishnupur - 4, Kakching - 5, Chandel - 1, Ukhrul - 3, Tamenglong - 7, Churachandpur - 4, Senapati - 4 and Kangpokpi - 5.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Both COVID-19 victims on Monday were from Churachandpur district. They died at Shija Hospital and District Hospital Churachandpur respectively. With the new fatalities, the cumulative number of deaths is 236, while 356 more people have recovered.
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 20,374 (General Population - 17.618 and Central Security Personnel 2,756). The number of active cases is 3,038 (General Population - 2.749 and Central Security Personnel - 289). The recovery rate is 86.14 per cent, the release added.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
