Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rises to 233; confirmed tally crosses 23000-mark

A total of 229 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Manipur on Saturday

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rises to 233 as one more person succumbed to the viral infection on Saturday and the confirmed tally has crossed the 23000-mark, the state health department said.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now 23,018 (General Population 20,047 and Central Security Personnel - 2,971) as 229 more persons, including 25 new COVID-19 cases detected during the Targeted Testing in Wangoi and Wangjing assembly constituencies and 41 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West - 98, Imphal East - 56, Thoubal - 20, Bishnupur - 21, Kakching - 2, Chandel -1. Ukhrul -1, Tamenglong - 5, Tengnoupal - 1, Churachandpur - 14, Senapati - 5 and Kangpokpi - 5. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

The COVID-19 victim on Saturday was a 70-year-old male from Imphal West who died at Raj Medicity. With it, the cumulative number of deaths is 233, while 193 more people have recovered.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 19,813 (General Population - 17,059 and Central Security Personnel - 2,754.The number of active cases is 2.972 (General Population 2.759 and Central Security Personnel - 213). The recovery rate is 86.07 per cent. 

Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818, the state health services stated. One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website -  www.esanjeevaniopd.in.
