Targeted houses under PMAY-G 2020-2021 to be completed by December: Minister Biswajit

The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister of Manipur said that the households of the year 2020-21 were selected based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC). For Phase II of the year 2019 – 2020, the target is 8900 out of which 8425 has been sanctioned.

A total of 8,444 houses out of the targeted number 15,842 houses to be built under the Rural Housing Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) for the year 2020- 2021 in Manipur have completed registration. The remaining 7,398 is aimed to be completed by December this year, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh said on Friday.

The minister was addressing media persons after attending Awaaas Diwas/ Awass Week through video conferencing at his secretariat in Imphal on Friday.

Biswajit stated that the state government is putting all efforts to complete the targeted number of houses to be built under Rural Housing Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) by 2022.

The minister was briefing the media through video conferencing at his secretariat office chamber t with the Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Food Processing Narendra Singh Tomar along with the other State Rural Development Ministers.

Biswajit said that Awass Diwass is being celebrated in commemoration of the launching the PMAY – G which aims to provide ‘Housing for All’ by 2022. PMAY-G aims at providing housing to all the houseless households and those households living in a dilapidated house, he added.

The minister maintained that the state government is fully committed to fulfilling the Prime Minister‘s dream of New India, where every citizen of the country will have a house with basic amenities.

Biswajit said that the households of the year 2020-21 were selected based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC). For Phase II of the year 2019 – 2020, the target is 8900 out of which 8425 has been sanctioned.

The remaining 475 are set to be completed sanctioning by the end of the year said Biswajit while adding that 9526 houses have been built under the Phase 1 for the year 2016 – 17 to 2018 – 19.

The target set for the Phase 1 is 9740 out of which only 214 are left incomplete and it will be completed by this month of November this year, said the minister.

It may be mentioned that the R-PMAY-G  was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 20, 2016, at Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
