Manipur, Assam report no new COVID-19 deaths

Manipur’s cumulative COVID-19 confirmed tally has reached 22,548 cases and Assam’s tally is 2,11,040.

Manipur and Assam reported no COVID-19 deaths on Thursday. While Manipur’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 231, Assam’s total fatalities stood at 969, according to the respective state health department.

However, Manipur witnessed a surge in the single day new positive cases of 230 while a total of 175 new cases were detected in Assam on Thursday, Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

With the new cases, Manipur’s cumulative COVID-19 confirmed tally has reached 22,548 cases, including 2,886 active cases, while Assam’s tally is 2,11,040, including 3,193 active cases.

Assam’s total recovered tally is now 2,06,875 and recovery rate is 98.02 per cent, while that of Manipur is 19,431 with 172 having recovered on Thursday. Manipur’s recovery rate is 86.17 per cent.

For the past couple of days, all the new positive cases in Manipur are registered as locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, a release from the state COVID-19 Common Control room said.
