Sanskrit to be introduced in schools, colleges: Education Minister Rajen

Rajen informed that all the government schools and colleges should have authenticated land certificate issued by the competent authority i.e. revenue department.

Manipur Education Minister S Rajen Singh on Thursday said that Sanskrit subject will be introduced in the curriculum of selected schools and colleges in the state.

Rajen was speaking to the media during a visit to the Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Charhajare in Kangpokpi district on Thursday. He also informed that the Manipur University is planning to open a department for Sanskrit and that concerned authority will be approached to speed up the process.

The minister assured that the existing infrastructure and building of Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Charhajare, will also be renovated within a short period of time. The education commissioner, education director and other concerned officials were also instructed to take up necessary actions in this regard.

Rajen informed that all the government schools and colleges should have authenticated land certificate issued by the competent authority i.e. revenue department.

The land should be in the name of the concerned schools and colleges. If their land records are not clear, the officials should settle the issue and appropriate initiatives for the welfare of education sector be taken up, he added.

Officer on special duty (Delhi) S Premananda Sharma, commissioner (Education-S), T Ranjit Singh, IAS, director education (S) L Nandakumar Singh, superintending engineer (SE), education engineering wing, Sarat Singh and other officials accompanied the minister in Thursday’s visit.

Later, the official team inspected the work progress of the Motbung Government High School, the Government Hindi Secondary School, Kanglatongbi, Maharabi Primary School, Tendongyang Govt. Junior High School and the Khonghampat High School. (DIPR)
