Manipur Social Welfare Minister Henry Okram on Wednesday said that a sum of Rs. 12,98,59,600 have been transferred to 1,28,508 beneficiaries under various welfare schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
Speaking to media persons at his office chamber, Henry Okram expressed his sincere gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his relentless support in releasing the funds on time. He further stated that the feat would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of the chief minister. Such generous act shows that the commitment of the chief minister towards uplifting the lives of the people, he added.
Henry Okram stated that Rs. 8,00,85,600 has been transferred to the 66,738 beneficiaries of Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme and those selected through Go to Village programme.
A total of Rs. 4,97,74,000 has been released by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India as the 2nd installment of financial assistance w.e.f. July to September 2020-21 under National Social Assistance Programme to the 61,770 beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme(IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme(IGNWPS), Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme(IGNDPS) and National Family Benefit Scheme under National Social Assistance Programme, he added.
The minister also said that the state government had also released for the advance payment of Rs. 1.6 crore under CMST before Ningol Chakouba to the beneficiaries.
Director (Social Welfare) Ng Uttam, officials of various Banks and Social Welfare department were present during the solemn function.
