Manipur records dip in COVID-19 new positive cases, death count

A total of 159 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Manipur Tuesday.

Manipur reported a dip in single-day COVID-19 positive cases to 159 on Tuesday from 178 on Monday. On Sunday, the count was 235 new positive cases. The COVID-19 related death count also dipped to one case from three deaths on Monday and Sunday.

Tuesday's COVID-19 victim was a 53-year-old man from Imphal East. He died at Raj Medicity. With it, the cumulative death toll reached 225, a release from the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

The new positive cases included 48 from Imphal West, 34 from Imphal east, 10 from Thoubal, nine from Bishnupur, one each from Kakching and Ukhrul, nine from Tamenglong, 17 from Churachandpur, three each from Kangpokpi, Noney and Tengnoupal, seven from Chandel and four each from Jiribam and Senapati, the release stated. It stated that all the new positive cases are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

A total of 233 more patients have recovered. With it, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 19,065 and the recovery rate stands at 85.84 per cent, the release added.

Meanwhile, the cumulative COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 22,208, including 2,914 security personnel. The total number of actives cases reduced to 2,918 on Tuesday. However, the number of active cases in home isolation has increased to 906 from Monday's 899 cases.

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in home isolation climbed to 5,219 on Tuesday.

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. Contact Covid Control Room or CMO for testing, the health department stated.
