Manipur governor, Speaker, CM Biren condole demise of former governor Ved Marwah

Marwah, who was former Chief of the Delhi Police, passed away on Friday evening at a private hospital at Mapusa in North Goa. He was 87.

Governor of Manipur, Najma Heptulla expressed her condolence over the sudden demise of former governor of Manipur Ved Marwa on Saturday.

A condolence message issued by the governor stated that Ved Marwah was a firm and straightforward seasoned civil and police administrator. He had a soft corner for this state, it said. His sudden demise is an irreplaceable loss to the country in general and the state of Manipur, it stated.

The governor, on behalf of the people of the state and herself conveyed her heartfelt condolences on his sudden demise, it added.

The chief minister of Manipur, N Biren singh has stated that he is deeply aggrieved to learn about the sad demise of former governor of Manipur Ved Prakash Marwah.

Before he became the governor of the state, Marwah served the Indian Police Service for around 36 years in various capacities in different parts of the country, said his condolence message.

After his retirement, he served as the governor of Manipur from 1999 to 2003, it said. He also later served as the governor of Mizoram from 2000 to 2001 and the governor of Jharkhand from 2003 to 2004, it added.

As a governor of Manipur, his love for the people and contribution to overall development of the state is still remembered, it said. His demise is not only a loss for his family, but in irreparable loss for the entire country. The void created by his demise would be difficult to fill, it added.

Speaker, Y Khemchand Singh mourned the sudden demise of former governor of Manipur, Mizoram and Jharkhand Ved Marwa who passed away last night at a private hospital in Marpusa town in North Goa.

In a statement, the speaker stated that he died at 87. The former IPS officer had an illustrious career as commissioner of police in Delhi, director general of elite national security guard in his capacity, it stated. He also wrote the book ‘Unveil wars’, the pathology of terrorism in India, it added.

Y Khemchand stated that his contribution towards maintaining social security had been noteworthy and he deeply condoles his sudden demise. He shares in the grief of his bereaved family members, it added.
