The COVID-19 death toll reached 221 on Sunday as three more succumbed to the illness while 235 new COVID-19 positive cases pushed the confirmed tally to 21,871 in Manipur on Sunday, the state health department said.
Two COVID-19 victims are from Thoubal while one is from Imphal West, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated Sunday evening. It stated that the new positive cases included 22 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
The release stated that the positive cases from the general population included 83 from Imphal West. 73 from Imphal East, 17 from THoubal, 14 from Bishnupur, two from Kakching, three from Ukhrul, eight from Tamenglong, two from Churachandpur, five from Tengnoupal, three from Senapati and one each from Kangpokpi, Chandel and Jiribam. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 259 persons were discharged. With it, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 18.593 (General Population - 15.941 and Central Security Personnel - 2,652), and the recovery rate is now 85.01 per cent. The cumulative number of active cases is 3,057 (General Population 2,805 and Central Security Personnel 252), the release stated.
Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases under home isolation is 5,016, including 960 active cases. A total of 4,056 persons under home isolation have recovered from the illness, the release added.
Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. Contact Covid Control Room or CMO for testing, the health department stated.
